Sample Itinerary

PRETOUR Barcelona

A three-night stay in Barcelona at your leisure allows you to visit Gaudi’s Architecture, Miró’s Museum, see the 1992 Olympic Stadium and the city’s modern quarters, the finest examples of Romanesque art in the National Museum of Art of Catalonia, tour the historic section of the city (Gothic Quarter) enjoy its entertaining Ramblas  and shop in the Paseo de Gracia boutiques. Day four travel with morning departure from Barcelona to Madrid (7hrs.) with stops en route for food & rest. Early afternoon arrival in Madrid. Free time to explore the city in the evening. Lodging in Madrid.

Day 1               Depart USA to Spain

Depart USA on your international flight.

Day 2               Madrid

Morning arrival Madrid Airport.  Meet your Driver and Guide in the arrivals hall at Madrid Airport.  Transfer to hotel and day at leisure to rest and sightsee.  Group dinner sampling traditional dishes from various parts of Spain.  Overnight Madrid. (B, D)

Day 3               Madrid

(1st Performance)

Morning professional guided visit of the city center and the Prado Museum’s best examples of Spanish art. Afternoon to enjoy free time for shopping and sightseeing. Evening concert in or near Madrid.  Dinner at hotel.  Overnight Madrid.  (B, D)

Day 4               Toledo / Madrid

Day-excursion to TOLEDO, “World Heritage” city by the UNESCO. Here we visit its magnificent Gothic cathedral and El Transito Synagogue-Museum to learn about the peaceful coexistence of Christians, Muslims and Jews in Spain’s Medieval capital.  Group lunch, then free time to explore and shop. After lunch return to Madrid. Dinner on own.  (B, L)

Day 5               Cordoba / Seville

Travel day from Madrid to Seville via CORDOBA with stops en route for rest and snacks. In Cordoba guided visit of its impressive 9th century Great Mosque and a walk through its the Historic Jewish Quarter. Evening departure to Seville.   Dinner in hotel.   Flamenco Show.  (B, D)Day 6               Seville

(2nd Performance)

Morning city visits to its Medieval Alcazar (Royal Palace & Gardens), Cathedral and climb up the Giralda Tower for a great view of the city. Free afternoon. Performance this afternoon or evening.  Group dinner.  (B, D)

Day 6               Merida / Caceres

Travel day from Sevilla to Caceres via MERIDA, two “World Heritage” cities by Unesco.  Enjoy the Peninsula’s best preserved Roman remains at the Roman theatre and ancient temples. Free time for activities on your own such as tapas lunch or visit to the National Museum of Roman Art. Afternoon departure and evening arrival in Caceres. Dinner in hotel. (B, D)

Day 7               Caceres

(3rd Performance)

Morning visit in Caceres to explore the historic center of this little visited beautiful city. We walk along its cobblestone streets marked by medieval, fortified homes and Renaissance palaces. Afternoon free. Concert for the locals this evening.  Dinner in hotel.   (B, D)

Day 8               Evora / Lisbon

Travel day from Caceres to Lisbon via EVORA, yet another “World Heritage” city, a charming monumental town. Stops en route for rest and lunch on own. Group dinner after arrival in Lisbon.  Fado entertainment evening.  Fado, as any Portuguese will tell you, is the sound of the soul of Portugal in song. It is sung by solo singers to the accompaniment of a Portuguese guitar - a pear-shaped instrument.  The plaintive sound of fado is said to have been developed in the 19th century by fishermen, sailors and students - itinerant travelers who were far away from home and who poured their sadness and longing into music.  (B, D)

Day 9               Lisbon

(4th Performance)

In our day in LISBON we make the most of Portugal’s capital city, also known as the “White City”, thanks to its unique luminosity. After a bus and walking tour through the city’s most famous quarters as La Alfama, the Medieval quarter or Marqués de Pombal, we enjoy Lisbon's lively streets and shopping centres at our leisure. Informal performance in Lisbon this afternoon. A farewell dinner celebrates the ending of the highlights of the Iberian Peninsula.   (B, D)

Day 11              Return Home

Transfer to Lisbon Airport for return flight home.  You will arrive in St. Louis the same day.
