Conditions of Participation
1. Participation in the Choir
Olympic Qualifying Competition (1st
round)
Any lay or amateur choir* of any
kind may take part. In the spirit of
the Choir Olympic Idea,
“Participation is the highest honour“,
all choirs, regardless of their
artistic level of achievement, have
the opportunity to engage in
competitive Choir Olympic Singing
and gather valuable experience in
international competition. The
choirs will be evaluated by an
international jury (5 jurors) in
accordance with the general
evaluation system and awarded
Golden, Silver and Bronze Diplomas.
Choirs awarded Golden Diplomas in
this competition qualify for the
Choir Olympic Competition.
2. Participation in the Choir
Olympic Competition (2nd
round)
Any lay or amateur choir* of any
kind may take part. A choir may
enter the Choir Olympic Competition
by qualifying, by applying directly
or by delegation. The Artistic
Committee decides whether a choirs
is admitted to the competition. The
choirs will be evaluated by an
international jury (7 jurors) in
accordance with Choir Olympic
evaluation system and awarded
Bronze, Silver or Gold Medals,
according to the number of points
they scored. The choirs that win the
Gold Medals and received the highest
scores in their respective
categories are declared Champions of
the World Choir Games.
3. Participation without entering
Choir Olympic Competitions
Aside from competition, choirs,
orchestras and cultural groups of
any kind may take part in the World
Choir Games 2008. They are cordially
invited to participate in encounter
concerts and to present their
programmes. If the decision of the
Artistic Commission is favourable
and the corresponding artistic
quality is sufficient, such
ensembles may also participate in
the gala concerts and / or be placed
in central events.
*
For a choir to qualify as an amateur
choir, none of its members except
for the conductor may earn his
livelihood by professional singing.
